The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art breaks ground next spring in Chicago, giving Star Wars fans even more to look forward to.
Pitching up beside Soldier Field near Burnham Harbor, the 300,000-square-foot space was designed by Beijing-based MAD Architects and looks every bit as space aged as you might expect. The museum will feature George Lucas’s Star Wars and Indiana Jones movie memorabilia collection, along with movie posters and items from other films, plus Lucas’s collection of Norman Rockwell paintings. The choice of Chicago came as a surprise to many, who had expected Lucas to select San Francisco as the museum’s site, where Lucasfilms visual effects division is based. Chicago is the hometown of Lucas’s wife. Visit LucasMuseum.org for more.
